A unique production solution for an iconic venue
To fully produce an off site dinner for the Safety Culture conference, fully lighting up the event space from the drop off zone in the carpark right through until the Ilex event site and the Element Tipis constructed on the lawn outside. This also had to include the Cunningham House greenhouse which was hosting food trucks outside. We were also asked to design and supply a full production solution for the large band marquee, with a Staging, Audio and Lighting package to suit. The majority of the delegates from this event were from overseas, and as such it was important to show the significance of the Botanical Gardens to Christchurch and create a unique event experience.
To capture the long pathway from where the guests arrived to the event site, we deployed over 64 Astera battery powered LED tubes, cycling through the brand colours with a slow animation. Over 100 IP Rated battery powered LED Fixtures were used to light the outside of key buildings and trees along the paths. As guests arrived at the Element Tipis setup, they were greeted by the tree canopy over the top being lit by our B Eye K25 moving head wash fixtures, and Fusion Bar QXV lighting the front facade of Ilex Event Centre. Cunningham House saw another 32 IP Rated LED fixtures deployed to create a stunning environment among the trees and provide a great atmosphere for guests. The Band Marquee saw a groundstacked Adamson S10 audio system and lighting package featuring our Pointe and K10 fixtures.

Continuity in production design across such a large event site produced a great atmosphere.

A complete transformation of one of Christchurch’s most iconic venues, allowing it to morph into a space fit for a high end corporate dinner whilst highlighting and reinforcing the heritage and core elements that make up the space. Consistent colour pallets across the lighting throughout the venue reinforced the brand of the event and the band space was able to adapt as the night progressed to match the energy of the crowds, who stayed right up until the last bus departed!
